The UP government presented a supplementary budget of Rs 17,865 crore on the second day of the winter session in the Assembly
On the second day of the winter session, the Uttar Pradesh assembly heard the presentation of the second supplemental budget for the fiscal year 2024-25, which totaled Rs 17,865 crore.
For the fiscal year 2024–2025, Uttar Pradesh Finance Minister Suresh Kumar Khanna unveiled the second supplemental budget.
“The total budget amount is Rs 17,865.72 crore, or 2.42 percent of the Rs 7,36,437.71 crore initial budget. With the second supplemental budget, the overall budget size for 2024–2025 would be Rs 7,66,513.36 crore, up from the first supplementary budget of Rs 12,209.93 crore. Along with a projected federal contribution of Rs 422.56 crore under different government initiatives, the budget also contains new proposals totaling Rs 790.49 crore. Additionally, it has a Rs 30.48 crore contingency reserve,” he said.
He added that the supplementary budget includes Rs 8,587.27 crore for the Energy Department, Rs 2,438.63 crore for Finance, Rs 1,592.28 crore for Family Welfare, Rs 1,001 crore for Animal Husbandry, Rs 805 crore for Public Works, Rs 515 crore for Primary Education, Rs 505 crore for Information, Rs 454.01 crore for Panchayati Raj, and Rs 354.54 crore for Medical Education and Training.
The supplemental budget, according to Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya, would hasten the state’s progress.
“The state’s growth will be accelerated by the supplemental budget. During the winter session of the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly, the state’s finance minister presented the supplemental budget. Maurya said reporters, “We will keep working for the state’s development.”
Brajesh Pathak, the deputy chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, said that the budget will help the state’s fourfold growth.
With substantial security measures in place, the Uttar Pradesh Vidhan Sabha’s Winter Assembly session got underway in Lucknow on Monday.
Discussions on a number of important topics impacting the state are anticipated during this session, including as the Sambhal violence, anti-encroachment campaigns, Mahakumbh preparedness, and resolving hospital irregularities to avoid reoccurring tragedies like the Jhansi fire.
On December 18, the budget will be discussed and passed. The House will hold the legislative work on December 19 and 20. On December 20, the Winter Assembly session will come to an end.
