Telugu case actress Kasturi Shankar appears before Chennai Egmore police to sign bail papers
In a case involving her alleged disparaging statements toward the Telugu minority, actress Kasthuri Shankar appeared before the Egmore Police in Chennai on Friday to sign for bail.
The issue stems from a Telugu federation’s complaint alleging that she made derogatory remarks during a public gathering in Chennai.
“I don’t have access to social media,” Kasthuri told ANI outside the police station.
“My phone is not with me. Social networking is not accessible to me. That’s the reason everyone is here today. [The media] always attempts to extract something from me when I come to sign. Because it’s impossible to be reachable. I shall begin squeezing out as soon as I have access. Actually, a few significant things occurred last week that I was unable to discuss,” Kasthuri remarked.
“I’m also not able to thank all the people who are standing in support of me,” the actress stated, thanking her fans for their support. And I wouldn’t be here now without their help.”
After Kasthuri’s comments went viral on social media, the Egmore Police filed a complaint against her on November 5. She had withdrawn her comments and apologized in public.
The star was arrested by a special police squad after her comments caused a reaction. On November 16, Kasthuri was arrested in Hyderabad and sent to Chennai. After being jailed, she was given conditional release, which required her to sign at the Egmore Police Station every day.
