The Dow Jones Industrial Average reached a record close on Wall Street on Thursday, which helped the Asia-Pacific markets trade higher.
Mainland The CSI 300 was up 0.92 percent, the Shanghai Composite was up 0.7%, and the Hang Seng in Hong Kong was up 1.97 percent.
The Nikkei 225 fell 0.5% in Japan, but the Topix index as a whole was mostly unchanged.
In September, Japan’s exports decreased 1.7% from the same month the previous year, which surprised experts who had predicted a 0.5% increase. Moreover, import growth was less than expected in September, increasing by 2.1% as opposed to 3.2% as predicted and 2.3% in August.
The S&P/ASX 200 in Australia increased by 0.77 percent, the small-cap Kosdaq fell by 0.3 percent, and the Kospi in South Korea was down by 0.12 percent.
On Wednesday, US equities closed higher relative to their international peers as oil continued to fall due to anticipated slowing demand.
