Shivraj Singh Chouhan assured that the government will not only fix the minimum support price at more than 50% of the production cost
New Delhi: Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Union Minister of Agriculture, New Delhi, Friday Chouhan promised that in addition to purchasing food from farmers, the government will set the Minimum Support Price (MSP) at more than 50% of the cost of production.
Reiterating the government’s commitment to farmers’ welfare, Chouhan told the Rajya Sabha that the Central Government would keep buying crops from farmers at the MSP.
He underlined that farmers had previously been refused the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for their crops by the Congress. On the other hand, an official press statement states that PM Modi’s central government has raised the MSP continuously over the last 10 years.
According to Chouhan, the government would buy output from farmers in addition to setting the Minimum Support Price (MSP) at more than 50% of the cost of production. The administration, led by Prime Minister Modi, is dedicated to making sure farmers get favorable pricing.
He pointed out that the ministry’s 2015 rebranding as the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare signaled a dramatic change in emphasis from the previous emphasis on farmers’ welfare to this new one.
Rajya Sabha Chairman Dhankhar lauded Chouhan while answering questions on agriculture, saying that the guy who was formerly admired as the brother of adored sisters would now be treasured as the brother of farmers, according to the press release.
Dhankhar said he was certain the dynamic minister would carry out his duties in keeping with his name, “Shivraj.” “As of today, I have given you a new name—Kisano Ke Laadle,” he publicly said.
According to Chouhan, this is Narendra Modi’s administration, and he promises to keep his word. He said that the Congress had stated that they could not accept the MS Swaminathan Commission’s recommendations while they were in office.
The administration of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi decided in 2019 to determine MSP prices by adding 50% profit to the cost. According to the press release, “We are committed; we are committed that we will buy the farmers’ crops by giving at least more than 50% profit,” even though the Congress administration never provided farmers more than 50% return on cost while it was in office.
According to a union minister, Modi’s administration operates with great vision. Prime Minister Modi has made the welfare and advancement of farmers his top priority.
This comes as farmers demanded compensation and a legal guarantee for the Minimum Support Price (MSP) during the ‘Delhi chalo’ march, which started a new wave of agitation.
However, the farmers decided to call off Friday night’s ‘Delhi chalo’ march after several of them were hurt when police used tear gas to scatter the demonstrators.
