Shiromani Akali Dal President Sukhbir Singh Badal resigned from his post
Chandigarh: Sukhbir Singh Badal, the president of the Shiromani Akali Dal, resigned on Saturday, allowing for the election of a new leader. This was verified in a tweet by Dr. Daljit S. Cheema, the former Punjabi minister of education.
“To prepare for the election of a new President, SAD President S Sukhbir Singh Badal submitted his resignation to the party’s Working Committee today,” the SAD leader stated. He expressed gratitude to all of the party leaders and employees for believing in him and for their unwavering support and collaboration throughout his term.
Following a meeting in Chandigarh back in July, the Shiromani Akali Dal disbanded its core committee. Daljit Singh Cheema, the party’s head, said on X that the core committee will soon undergo a reorganization.
“The SAD President S Sukhbir Singh Badal has been given permission by the party’s Working Committee to restructure the party organization. In a meeting today in Chandigarh, the party president went into great depth with his top colleagues about this. The decision was made to disband the party’s Core Committee. It will soon be restructured. Cheema said, “They also talked about four bye-elections.”
“Those present in the meeting were S Harjinder S Dhami, S Balwinder S Bhundar, S Mahesh Inder S Grewal, Dr Daljit S Cheema, S Paramjit S Sarna, S Iqbal S Jhoonda & Harcharan S Bains,” he said.
After the party suffered a crushing defeat in the most recent Lok Sabha elections, certain leaders, notably Parminder Singh Dhindsa and Bibi Jagir Kaur, among others, revolted against Sukhbir Singh Badal, the party’s leader, and demanded a change in leadership. In order to get Badal to resign, several party officials met in Jalandhar. Nonetheless, a few other Akali Dal officials still have trust in Badal.
Bibi Jagir Kaur, the former president of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC), said that Badal ignored them anytime they attempted to talk to him about anything. After a few days, however, the Working Committee of the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) restored confidence in the party president Sukhbir Singh Badal after a group of SAD leaders revolted.
“The Shiromani Akali Dal Working Committee has full faith in the leadership of party president S Sukhbir Singh Badal and urges detractors not to play into the hands of Panth’s enemies,” Shiromani Akali Dal said on X. The committee requests that the president take the lead in exposing plots against Punjab, the party, and Panth.
In response, Harsimrat Kaur Badal, the wife of Shiromani Akali Dal MP and party leader Sukhbir Badal, stated: “The entire Shiromani Akali Dal is united and is standing with Sukhbir Badal.” A few BJP stooges are attempting to dismantle SAD. They want to follow in Maharashtra’s footsteps.
