Sanjay Raut supported Rahul Gandhi’s Parbhani visit, said this
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s visit to Parbhani, Maharashtra, was justified by Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut on Tuesday, arguing that Gandhi has the constitutional right to go to any location where significant occurrences have occurred.
Raut was reacting to Rahul Gandhi’s planned visit to the city, where he would talk to the people about the state’s persistent problems. “Somnath Suryavanshi was murdered in police custody, and Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis lied in the Assembly saying that the police did not beat him up,” Raut remarked, alluding to episodes of alleged police brutality. Santosh Deshmukh was killed in front of Maharashtra residents.
He went on to say that Rahul Gandhi has every right to come as a member of parliament. “Rahul Gandhi has a constitutional right to visit any place where such an incident has happened,” Raut said.
Chandrashekhar Bawankule, the state BJP president and Maharashtra minister, said that Rahul Gandhi, the leader of the opposition in the Lok Sabha, had come to Parbhani on Monday to “dramatize and provoke society.”
“Rahul Gandhi came to Parbhani and left after making foolish statements,” Bawankule told the journalists. He has no background in law enforcement and has never held a government job. Regarding the event, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has taken all necessary actions. Only to exaggerate, Rahul Gandhi arrived. Rahul Gandhi agitated the populace. Our government is taking all required actions since it is worried about the occurrence.
Rahul Gandhi’s visit to Parbhani was earlier described by Maharashtra Chief Minister Fadnavis as “a political meeting” and a “attempt to create hatred among people on caste lines.”
“Rahul Gandhi has just come here for political reasons; this was only a political gathering, an effort to incite caste-based animosity. I believe he finished his job of inciting animosity in Parbhani today since he has been doing this for a number of years,” Fadnavis said.
Fadnavis said that the state government has declared a judicial investigation into the violence in Parbhani, promising that the guilty will face the harshest punishment possible.
“We have declared a judicial investigation into this whole issue since the Maharashtra government is concerned. The legal investigation will reveal all the truth. There won’t be any secrets. No one will be spared and the harshest measures will be implemented if the inquiry reveals that the death was caused by violence or any other cause,” he said.
Rahul Gandhi said that the deceased was “murdered” because he was a Dalit and was “protecting” the Constitution during his visit to Parbhani, a violent area of Maharashtra, on Monday.
“I’ve met the victims’ relatives and those who were slain and assaulted. They showed me the photos, films, and post-mortem report. This death is definitely a custodial one. The Chief Minister lied before the Assembly to convey a message to the police after he was assassinated. Rahul Gandhi told reporters, “This young man was killed because he was a Dalit and was defending the Constitution.”
On December 10, when a copy of the Indian Constitution was allegedly vandalized, violence broke out in Parbhani city. Shahaji Umap, Nanded’s Special Inspector General, had previously said that eight charges had been filed in relation to the incident and that around fifty persons had been detained.
