“In 2029, we will see Modi as the prime minister again,” Fadnavis told reporters in Nagpur in response to Shiv Sena UBT leader Sanjay Raut’s assertion that Modi visited the RSS headquarters in Nagpur on Sunday to inform Sangh president Mohan Bhagwat of his retirement. Senior RSS leader Suresh “Bhaiyyaji” Joshi told reporters in Nagpur that he was unaware of any discussion for the removal of the prime minister.

“Looking for his replacement is not necessary. Fadnavis said, “He (Modi) is our leader and will continue.” According to the CM, it is improper in Indian tradition to talk about succession while the leader is still in office.

It is considered improper in our society to discuss succession while the father is still living. Mughal culture is that. In response to Raut’s assertion that Maharashtra will provide Modi’s successor, he said, “The time has not come to discuss it.” Raut said in an interview with reporters on Monday that the RSS seeks a shift in the nation’s political leadership.

In reference to several ruling-party leaders who retired at 75, Raut said, “He (Modi) probably went to RSS headquarters to write his retirement application in September.” This September, Modi turns 75.

Modi referred to the Sangh as the “banyan tree” of India’s eternal culture during his first visit to the RSS headquarters in Nagpur on Sunday, eleven years after taking office as prime minister.

Modi visited the RSS headquarters in Nagpur, becoming the second sitting prime minister to do so. According to an RSS officer, Atal Bihari Vajpayee had visited there in 2000 while serving his third term as prime minister. Modi has held the top position for three terms.
