Mauritius and India have a long and strong relationship.
Even before Mauritius gained its independence, in 1948, independent India had diplomatic ties with a few key nations, including Mauritius.

The two nations’ leadership has a high degree of mutual trust and understanding, as seen by their ongoing high-level political interaction. According to the MEA’s statement, these specialties have also led to exceptionally strong collaboration in areas like as capacity-building, development partnerships, marine security, and international forums.

The many development projects that are supported by India and scattered around Mauritius are another example of the strong ties.

The World Hindi Secretariat, the Mahatma Gandhi Institute, and the Indian Cultural Centre are just a few of the organizations that demonstrate India’s impact in Mauritius, as do the many initiatives that the country has supported around the island. The cultural and interpersonal linkages between the two countries are still being strengthened by these activities.
