Rohit Sharma surprised everyone for this reason at the beginning of the test match against Bangladesh
When the second Test against Bangladesh began in Kanpur, captain of India Rohit Sharma stunned everyone by winning the toss. In the second Test, Team India was predicted to play three spinners, particularly since the venue’s surface was created with black dirt, which ensures that spinners would get more support. After winning the toss, Rohit chose to bowl first and selected an unchanged playing eleven, which meant that all three of the team’s pacers—Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, and Akash Deep—kept their spots.
It doesn’t seem if Rohit had the intention of playing three seamers in Kanpur initially. Before play began, Kuldeep Yadav, who did not participate in the first Test against Bangladesh, engaged in a long net session, raising the possibility that he will be included in the starting lineup. However, Rohit and the team management seem to have changed their plans due to the cloudy weather at Greenfield Stadium.
It should be mentioned that Rohit was the first Indian captain to choose to bowl first in nine years after winning the toss at home. India’s latest decision to bowl first after winning the toss at home came in a 2015 Bengaluru match against South Africa. Virat Kohli captained India in the encounter, which resulted in a tie.
“First up, we’re going to bowl. We need to go ahead early and we want our three seamers to take advantage of the rather soft wicket. In the first game, we didn’t get off to a great start at bat, but we managed to score and the bowlers did the job. At the toss, Rohit said, “I expect no different here (the fight from Bangladesh). We will be challenged, but we have the experience to come back.”
Nonetheless, Najmul Hossain Shanto, the captain of Bangladesh, was pleased that his opponent had opted to bowl rather than bat first.
“We wanted to bat anyhow, so we were happy to bat first. If we receive a start at bat, it is our responsibility to score runs. I’m hoping our hitters will score a lot today. It seems to be a decent surface for batting. But hitting with new balls will be crucial. Two modifications. Taskin and Nahid are not having fun. Khaled and Taijul are in,” he said.
The playing XI for India is as follows: KL Rahul, Ravindra Jadeja, Ravichandran Ashwin, Akash Deep, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, Rishabh Pant (w), and Yashasvi Jaiswal.
