RG Kar rape-murder case : According to the media report, a CBI attorney made a Kolkata court wait fifty minutes to consider Sanjay Roy’s bail request. Roy is the suspect in the RG Kar hospital rape-murder case.

1. The media report story claimed that the annoyed magistrate even asked herself if she should consider granting bail to the accused given the delay. At 4:10 pm, upon hearing from the CBI official that the public prosecutor was arriving late, Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Pamela Gupta said, “If the lawyer is not present, he (Roy) should be granted bail.”
2. On Friday, West Bengal Governor C V Ananda Bose sent to President Droupadi Murmu the anti-rape bill that the legislature had approved for her review. After reading the technical report on the bill, which Chief Secretary Manoj Pant had given him earlier in the day, Bose sent it to Murmu, according to him.

4. Sanjoy Roy, the main suspect in the rape and murder of a woman doctor at a state-run hospital, had his bail request denied by a Kolkata court on Friday. He was placed under judicial detention for a period of 14 days, till September 20. The accused appeared in court virtually, but the attorneys involved in the case were physically there. According to CBI sources, Roy started sobbing as soon as the case’s hearing commenced.
5. The case pertaining to the rape and murder of a junior physician at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata will be reviewed by the Supreme Court on Monday. The case was taken up on a suo motu basis. The matter is due to be heard by a bench headed by Chief Justice D Y Chandrachud, together with Justices JB Pardiwala and Manoj Misra, on September 9, according to the cause list available on the website of the supreme court.
6. On Friday, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee was asked by Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel to put action ahead of words when it comes to women’s protection. In a post on X, Bhupendra Patel addressed the chief minister of West Bengal and wrote, “Mamta Didi, we need actions, not just words.” Strong regulations such as the POCSO Act and others pertaining to women’s protection are contingent upon prompt and equitable action by local law enforcement. Timely justice is essential from the point of inquiry until conviction.
7. Congressman Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury has attacked West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for allegedly attempting to disassociate herself from the RG Kar woman doctor rape-murder case. Additionally, Chowdhury said that efforts had been made to influence the results of the probe.
8. “From the start, there has been an effort to sabotage the inquiry in order to prevent the state government from being held accountable; as a result, we still don’t know the true perpetrator in this case. Mamata Banerjee fled from her duties when the CBI took control. She is welcome to visit the CBI and give assistance in apprehending the offender. That’s also something she can say in court. “She just wants to put this behind her,” said Mamata Banerjee, the chief minister of West Bengal.
9. The CPI(M) women’s, youth, and student wings spontaneously staged a sit-in at Howrah on Friday when the police broke up their parade on their way to the health department’s office. The demonstrators were calling for the young doctor who was reportedly killed at a state-run hospital after being raped.

As they started to march in the direction of the district chief medical officer of health’s (CMOH) office, members of the Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI), Students’ Federation of India (SFI), and All India Democratic Women’s Association encountered police roadblocks.
