Ranbir Kapoor reflects on his 17-year film career, says his debut film ‘Saawariya’ made him ‘humble’
Looking back on his 17-year career, actor Ranbir Kapoor attributes his humility to his first movie, “Saawariya.” The early setback to his acting career equipped him to handle the highs and lows of the business.
Ranbir said in an interview with Deadline that he has made maybe 21 or 22 films in his career to far, and each one has changed him in some way. He said that ‘Saawariya’ had the most influence on his life.
The ‘Animal’ actor recalled his first movie experience, saying, “I’ve done around 21 or 22 films in my 17-year career and every film has brought about some change.”
He went on to explain, “I want to say that my first film, Saawariya, which was a huge box office flop, [had the largest influence] because I always feel that failure has changed me more than a successful picture. Sanjay Leela Bhansali, one of the greats of Indian film, directed it. At the box office, it was a failure. The movie was widely mocked. However, I was somewhat prepared at a young age for the highs and lows of this profession and what it’s like to be an actor. I believe it made me more modest. stated Deadline.
Sonam Kapoor and Ranbir made their debuts together in “Saawariya.” 2007 saw its release.
The film centers on the romance between Sakina (Sonam Kapoor) and Ranbir Raj (Ranbir Kapoor). A nomadic musician named Raj develops feelings for Sakina, a stunning young Muslim woman who turns down his proposal. Sakina informs him that she loves Imaan (Salman Khan), who has vowed to come back to her, when he attempts to express his sentiments.
In addition to Salman, Sonam, and Ranbir, Rani Mukerji plays Gulabji in the film. Actor Zohra Sehgal, who received the Padma Vibhushan award, had her last movie performance in “Saawariya” before her away on July 10, 2014.
