Rahul Gandhi’s FIR is a diversionary ploy in reaction to his demonstration against the Home Minister: KC Venugopal
New Delhi: Rahul Gandhi’s adamant protest over Home Minister Amit Shah’s comments against B. R. Ambedkar prompted Congress General Secretary KC Venugopal to claim that the FIR against him is a diversionary ploy.
“The FIR against Rahul Gandhi is nothing more than a diversionary tactic in response to his steadfast protest against the home minister,” KC Venugopal said in a post on X. It is an honor to be accused of upholding Babasaheb’s legacy. Regardless, Rahul Gandhi has already been the target of 26 FIRs because of the BJP’s political grudges, and neither he nor the Congress will be deterred from opposing the casteist RSS-BJP government by this new FIR. However, why hasn’t the Delhi Police taken action on the formal complaints made by INC women MPs against the BJP officials who allegedly attacked them?
Rahul Gandhi, the leader of the opposition in the Lok Sabha, was the subject of a skirmish in Parliament on Thursday, and Delhi Police filed a formal complaint against him in response to cross-complaints from the Congress and BJP.
Unprecedented spectacles were seen in parliament as opposition and BJP-led NDA members staged simultaneous rallies that ended in a confrontation. Two BJP members were hurt, and senior Congress politician Mallikarjun Kharge said he was shoved.
Inside Parliament, the sights outside were reflected as well. Phangnon Konyak, a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party, said that she “felt very uncomfortable” when the head of the opposition in the Lok Sabha reportedly approached her and yelled at her as the leaders of the INDIA bloc were leaving for Parliament during the BJP protest, amid the chanting of opposition MPs in the Rajya Sabha.
Konyak brought out the simultaneous INDIA bloc and NDA rallies over Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s comments against B. R. Ambedkar. Two BJP MPs were hurt in a brawl that broke out during the demonstrations.
“I say this from the bottom of my heart, and I have already asked for your protection. Today’s demonstration was nonviolent. I was standing just under Makar Dwar’s stairway. I am feeling really discouraged because of something that occurred to me. LoP Rahul Gandhi approached me rather closely, which made me feel uneasy. He also yelled at me, which I believe is highly inappropriate for an opposition leader. In the Rajya Sabha, MP Konyak said, “It is not that I cannot defend myself, but it is still really unbecoming.”
She asked Jagdeep Dhankar, the chairman of the Rajya Sabha, for safety.
“I thought his behavior today was absolutely awful, and I’m discouraged. No woman member, much less myself, should have to feel this way. I have already written you a notice, sir (the chairman of the Rajya Sabha), thus I am asking for your protection in this case,” she stated.
109 (attempt to murder), 115 (voluntarily causing grievous hurt), 117 (voluntary causing grievous hurt), 125 (act of endangering life or personal safety of others), 131 (use of criminal force), 351 (criminal intimidation), and 3(5) (common intention) were among the sections under which the BJP had filed a complaint against Rahul Gandhi.
Section 109 of the BNS (attempt to kill) was eliminated by the Delhi Police, while the other sections remain the same as stated in the complaint.
The Congress also filed a complaint, which is now being “investigated” by the Delhi Police.
Hemang Joshi, Bansuri Swaraj, and Anurag Thakur, a BJP leader, had earlier in the day filed a case against Rahul Gandhi at the Parliament Street Police Station, alleging “assault and incitement.”
