The arrangements for the All India Congress Committee Meeting in Ahmedabad, which is set for April 8–9, were examined earlier in the day by Congress General Secretary (Organisation) KC Venugopal.
He also paid respects to India’s first Union Home Minister at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Memorial in the city.

“As part of the visit to review preparations for our AICC Meeting scheduled for April 8-9, I visited the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Memorial in Ahmedabad and paid homage to Sardar Patel, our great freedom fighter and stalwart Congressman who has forever been our guiding light,” Venugopal wrote on X.

The Ahmedabad AICC meeting will bring together AICC delegates from all over the country to discuss the difficulties presented by the BJP’s “anti-people policies” and “relentless attack” on the Constitution and its principles while determining the party’s future course of action, the Congress said in a press release.

An extended Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting will kick off the session on April 8; the AICC Delegates’ meeting will follow on April 9. Sonia Gandhi, the chairperson of the Congress Parliamentary Party; Rahul Gandhi, the leader of the opposition in the Lok Sabha; all chief ministers of states ruled by the Congress; national office holders; senior party leaders; and other AICC delegates will attend the two sessions, which will be presided over by Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, the Congress said.
The resolutions passed during the Belagavi Extended CWC meeting (Nava Satyagraha Baithak), which marked the 100th anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi’s presidency at the INC session in 1924, are being carried over into this AICC session.

“Recognizing the urgent need to preserve, protect, and promote the legacy of Mahatma Gandhi, Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar, and the Constitution, it was decided that between January 26 2025 and January 26 2026, the Indian National Congress will launch a massive, nationwide public outreach campaign called the Samvidhan Bachao Rashtriya Padayatra, along with an AICC session in Gujarat, the birthplace of Mahatma Gandhi, reaffirming our commitment to his ideals of truth, non-violence, and justice,” said the statement released by Venugopal on February 23.

According to the statement, the Congress Party’s united determination to address the concerns of the general public and provide a compelling alternative vision for the country will be reaffirmed during the next AICC session, which will also provide a forum for important discussions.
