Rahul Gandhi to visit Gujarat today and address orientation programme
New Delhi: Rahul Gandhi, a Congressman and member of the Lok Sabha, is scheduled to go to Gujarat today. Gandhi will speak at the Gujarat Pradesh Congress Committee’s District Observers orientation event in Ahmedabad at about 3 p.m.

The Congress Working Committee (CWC) and the 84th AICC (All India Congress Committee) national convention were recently conducted in Ahmedabad. The conference sought to address a number of national concerns, such as the increase in the cost of gas and diesel.
After a 64-year hiatus, the AICC returned to Gujarat for its 84th National Convention, which took place in Ahmedabad on April 8–9.
Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, CPP Chairperson Sonia Gandhi, leaders Rahul Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi Vadra, Jairam Ramesh, KC Venugopal, Pawan Khera, Rajeev Shukla, DK Shivakumar, Sachin Pilot, and others were among the senior party officials who attended the AICC convention and CWC meeting.
On April 9, the Congress said that India’s constitutional institutions were being attacked in a “relentless, systematic and conspiratorial attack” by the BJP-led government. With party head Mallikarjun Kharge saying that those who are unable to work for the party should relax and those who are unable to do their tasks should retire, it discussed adjustments to the party’s organisational structure by giving district units more authority.
The BJP-led government was strongly criticised in the “Nyay Path” resolution passed at the AICC session, which accused it of “failure in the economy, foreign affairs, and betrayal of the farmers”.
It demanded that OBC, ST, and SC reservations be made in private schools and that this be put into effect right away.
The party called the BJP-led administration “weak-kneed” and said that via a visionary and principled foreign policy, succeeding Congress governments raised India’s profile internationally and showed leadership.
“Our governments’ foreign policy was always centred around protection of India’s interests, global balance of power, finding solutions through mutual harmony and dialogue, international cooperation and peaceful resolution of disputes,” and it claimed that the BJP-led government “compromised India’s foreign policy at the altar of ‘individual branding and serving ‘vested interests’.”
According to the Congress, India’s foreign policy cannot be used as a tool for polarising politics in order to further its domestic political goal, “as is being done by the BJP government.”
The party said that while the present BJP Government, which was established on the premise of demonstrating that “‘lal aankh’ has utterly failed to restore the status quo ante, as it existed prior to April 2020”, China had unlawfully acquired thousands of square kilometres of Indian land in Eastern Ladakh.
It made reference to China’s plans to build the biggest dam in the world on the Brahmaputra River, calling it a concerning development, especially for Assam and other Northeastern states.
According to the resolution, there is already a dangerous atmosphere for religious minorities, such as Christians, Buddhists, and Hindus, as a result of the growth of extreme groups in nearby Bangladesh.
