Rahul Gandhi said, the opposition wants the house to function and debate on the constitution as per consensus
Rahul Gandhi, the leader of the opposition in the Lok Sabha, said on Wednesday that the opposition wants the House to convene and have a constitutional discussion on December 13 as scheduled.
“I met with the Speaker.” I advised him to erase whatever negative remarks he had made about me. The Speaker promised to investigate the matter. Our goal is for the House to function and for debates to take place there. Rahul Gandhi told reporters, “We want a debate on December 13th, regardless of what they say about me.”
He said that a debate of the accusations made against entrepreneur Gautam Adani was not what the BJP wanted.
“They do not want to talk about Adani. Ultimately, we won’t abandon this. They will continue to accuse us, but the House needs to operate,” he said.
Following the uproar by the opposition, the Lok Sabha’s sessions have been postponed till Wednesday at 2:00 PM.
The situation in Manipur was brought up earlier in the parliament by Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi, who said that the effect on common people is catastrophic, that people are suffering, and that essential services are in danger of collapsing.
Gogoi asked when Home Minister Amit Shah would update the House on the measures being taken to address the problem and when Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Manipur. Additionally, he said that the BJP is using George Soros as a cover for the failure of the party-led administration.
Amid the chaos, Piyush Goyal, the minister of commerce and industry, said that the government was taking the necessary actions about the Manipur issue.
He said that there is a connection between Congress and outside powers that is causing issues and causing the nation to suffer. He said that George Soros and Congress were connected.
“Why does George Soros have such a close relationship with their leader?” inquired the man.
Amid a dispute between the opposition and the BJP-led central government over the vote of no-confidence against Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar, the Rajya Sabha has been postponed for the day. On the 12th of December, the house will meet again.
The Secretary General of the Upper House received a no-confidence resolution against Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar on Tuesday from the Opposition INDIA group.
In addition to holding a demonstration on the grounds of Parliament, the Congress, headed by the INDIA group, has been calling for a debate on the Adani problem.
Congressman Manish Tewari had before questioned Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar’s neutrality if the opposition had filed a vote of no-confidence against him.
“Neither an elected nor nominated member of the Council of States is the vice president. Being chosen by members of both the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha, he holds the position of Vice President and is thus ex-officio Chairperson of the Rajya Sabha. “It raises larger questions about the selection of impartial presiding officers for our legislatures if the opposition is forced to move an impeachment motion against him on the grounds of partiality and bias,” he added.
The Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha’s Winter Session was suspended for the day on Tuesday due to rowdy incidents that erupted during the proceedings. The program for the day was disrupted by heated exchanges between treasury and opposition members of Parliament.
On November 25, the winter Parliament’s first session began, but because to interruptions, both Houses were adjourned somewhat early. The winter session is scheduled to conclude on December 20.
