Rahul Gandhi said in Lok Sabha, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi cannot get Adani investigated…”
New Delhi: On Thursday, Rahul Gandhi, the leader of the opposition in the Lok Sabha, attacked the Union government over the US prosecutors’ connection of Gautam Adani to a bribery case. He said Prime Minister Narendra Modi cannot have Adani investigated because doing so would result in him being investigated.
“Modi ji is unable to have Adani ji probed, as doing so will result in an investigation of him. Adani is one with Modi. Rahul Gandhi joined opposition MPs in protesting the Adani issue, saying, “Do nahi hain, ek hain.”
In an effort to protest the Adani problem, opposition MPs donned jackets that said, “Modi Adani Ek Hai, Adani safe hai.”
Congress MP Gurjeet Singh Aujla stated, “The reputation and integrity of Indian businesspeople throughout the world have been called into question. He has been banned nationwide due to his involvement in corruption. The PM needs to respond and form a JPC to investigate the issue. The reputation of the whole nation is being tarnished by one individual.”
Priyanka Gandhi, a Wayanad MP and Congress politician, was also seen standing during the opposition demonstration.
KC Venugopal, Jairam Ramesh, and Gaurav Gogoi, among other opposition figures, were seen with jackets that said, “Modi Adani Ek Hai, Adani safe hai.”
Since the start of the Winter Session, parliament has been at a standstill due to unrest in Manipur and Sambhal, as well as rallies by opposition parties over the Adani issue.
On November 25, the winter Parliament’s first session began, but because of interruptions, both Houses were adjourned somewhat early. The winter session is scheduled to conclude on December 20.
The claims made against Adani Green’s directors by the US Securities and Exchange Commission and the US Department of Justice have been refuted by the Adani Group. The BJP, however, criticized Congressman Rahul Gandhi for his criticism of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and said that the legislation would work itself out.
All available legal options would be pursued, according to a representative for the Adani Group.
“The US Department of Justice and the US Securities and Exchange Commission against directors of Adani Green are baseless and denied,” the statement said.
“The charges in the indictment are allegations, and the defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty,” according to the US Department of Justice itself. We will pursue all available legal options,” it said.
“Highest standards of governance, transparency and regulatory compliance across all jurisdictions of its operations” are what the Adani Group has always supported and is resolutely dedicated to upholding.
“We assure our stakeholders, partners and employees that we are a law-abiding organization, fully compliant with all laws,” read the statement.
