Naxals attacked their vehicle in an IED explosion in Bijapur, Chhattisgarh, on Monday, killing nine persons, including eight jawans from the Dantewada District Reserve Guard (DRG).

The event took place a few days after a clash between security forces and Maoists in Bastar claimed the lives of five militants. Four rebels were first discovered dead on Sunday, and a fifth corpse was subsequently located.
