Punjab municipal elections go to the polls today
Ludhiana: At 7 a.m. on Saturday, voting for Punjab’s Municipal Corporation elections got underway in Ludhiana. On Saturday, the voting will go on until 4 p.m. Voters may be seen coming at the polling place to cast their ballots. Ashok Parashar Pappi, a candidate for the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), cast his ballot at Ludhiana’s Government Primary Smart School.
He added that development was a crucial problem that needed to be addressed during the elections and urged the populace to use their right to vote with fervor.
“One crucial topic that must be addressed during the elections is development. Speaking to the media, Pappi urged everyone to use their right to vote and to do it with vigor.
One female voter said she was pleased to use her right.
The voter told the media report, “We are happy that we can exercise our right to vote and that we hope the best candidate wins.”
Another voter, Amanjeet, urged more and more people to cast ballots.
According to Amanjeet, who was speaking to the media, “We appeal to more and more people to come and vote.”
Padamjeet Singh Mehta, the Ward 48 candidate for the Aam Aadmi Party, urged everyone to cast their ballots.
“All I want to do is urge everyone to utilize their right to vote. The finest counselor should be chosen by the public. If people give us an opportunity, we will be overjoyed. The AAP would have its first counselor if it were to win. Speaking to the media, Mehta said, “We are hoping for a great beginning.”
In the meanwhile, a half-day vacation for the municipal councils and panchayat elections was declared for Jalandhar’s government and non-government schools and institutions on December 20.
On December 9, Punjab’s Election Commission revealed the results of the state’s municipal corporation, council, and Nagar Panchayat (urban civic body) elections.
December 9 marked the start of the nomination filing period, which concluded on December 12. Candidates had until December 14 to withdraw their candidacy after the nominations were scrutinized on December 13.
Across the state, elections are being conducted for Nagar Panchayats, 598 wards in municipal councils, and 381 wards in municipal corporations.
