Every year, the Department of School Education and Literacy organizes an interactive event for kids with PM Modi. It will take place in a town hall style at Bharat Mandapam in the nation’s capital.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s initiative, Pariksha Pe Charcha (PPC), which aims to turn exam-related stress into a celebration of learning, had record-breaking growth in its eighth iteration.
With an astounding 3.56 crore registrations for its eighth edition in 2025, PPC has grown into a national movement since its inception in 2018. Additionally, this represents a considerable rise of 1.3 crore registrations compared to 2.26 crore in the seventh edition.
In addition to being a well-liked program, Pariksha Pe Charcha has evolved into a “Jan Andolan” (people’s movement) that has a profound impact on parents, teachers, and kids nationwide. People from a variety of backgrounds have responded favorably to the initiative’s emphasis on reducing test anxiety and urging students to see exams as a celebration, or “Utsav.”.
A rising understanding and acceptance of the significance of mental health and holistic education is shown in the overwhelming participation in PPC. The popularity of the program has also been aided by its participatory nature, which allows for free communication between the prime minister, instructors, and students.
In order to further solidify PPC as a “Jan Andolan,” a number of interesting events were held at the school level between January 12, 2025 (National Youth Day) and January 25, 2025 (Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Jayanti).
The purpose of these events, which were held in various states and UTs, was to get teachers, parents, and students involved in PPC celebrations. In all, 2.94 lakh schools, 12.81 lakh instructors, and 1.42 crore pupils took part. These exercises were intended to lower tension, increase concentration, and boost performance both before and after tests.
Indigenous sports like Kho-Kho and Kabaddi, short-distance marathons, imaginative meme contests, captivating Nukkad Natak performances, and visually striking poster creation were among the many activities that encouraged students to take part.
In order to develop calm and awareness, they were also urged to take part in student-led conversations, practice yoga and meditation, and share their experiences via student testimonies. Schools hosted student-written plays, held seminars, and invited notable speakers to provide their perspectives.
PM Modi has been hosting the yearly event since 2018 to engage with parents, teachers, and schoolchildren and provide advice on how to avoid stress before the board examinations. The program has been run by the Ministry of Education’s Department of School Education and Literacy.
In New Delhi, the first three PPC events took place in an interactive town hall setting. The fourth iteration was conducted online as a program broadcast on Doordarshan and all major TV stations due to the COVID-19 outbreak.
Talkatora Stadium in New Delhi hosted the PPC’s fifth, sixth, and seventh editions in a town hall style.
