Prime Minister Narendra Modi celebrated the completion of 10 years of “Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao” movement
New Delhi: In honor of the tenth anniversary of the “Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao (Save the girl child, educate the girl child)” movement, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday conveyed gratitude, stating that the movement has grown into a people-powered endeavor that attracts participants from a variety of backgrounds.
“The Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao movement is celebrating its tenth anniversary today. People from all areas of life have participated in this revolutionary, people-powered project over the last ten years,” Prime Minister Modi wrote on X.
According to PM Modi, the campaign has focused on dismantling prejudices and hurdles related to gender, opening the door for girls to have access to opportunities and education.
“Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao has been instrumental in overcoming gender biases and at the same time, it has created the right environment to ensure that the girl child has access to education and opportunities to achieve her dreams,” he said.
In light of the “historically low child sex ratios,” the prime minister thanked individuals and community organizations for their efforts.
“#BetiBachaoBetiPadhao has accomplished incredible milestones because of the people’s and numerous community service organizations’ tireless work. According to PM Modi, awareness efforts have deepened people’s understanding of the significance of gender equality, and districts with traditionally poor child-to-sex ratios have reported notable gains.
In order to safeguard women’s rights in the nation and provide them access to education, PM Modi emphasized the need of carrying on with this initiative. According to him, it was essential to establish a society free from prejudice so that the daughters may prosper.
“I commend all those involved who have contributed to the grassroots vibrancy of this movement. Let’s keep defending our girls’ rights, making sure they get an education, and building a society free from prejudice so they may prosper. By working together, we can make sure that India’s girls have even more opportunities and advancement in the years to come,” he said.
Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi introduced the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) program at Panipat, Haryana, on January 22, 2015, marking the conclusion of its ten-year run. Addressing the falling Child Sex Ratio (CSR), preventing gender-biased sex-selective elimination, and promoting the survival, protection, and education of girl children are the goals of this flagship effort of the government of India. The program has developed into one of the Indian government’s most significant social projects.
The lives of Indian girls have significantly improved because of the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) program. It has supported women’s economic empowerment, expanded healthcare, improved the sex ratio at birth, and improved access to education. Through collaboration with local communities, NGOs, and government agencies, the program has established a solid basis for respecting and safeguarding every female child. The program’s second decade will see an emphasis on long-term reforms via improved execution, inclusive policies, and engaged community involvement. This will guarantee ongoing advancements in the areas of female equality and empowerment.
