President Draupadi Murmu pays tribute to the martyrs of 26/11 attacks
New Delhi: On Tuesday, President Droupadi Murmu honored the victims of the 26/11 strikes. “On the anniversary of cowardly terror attacks in Mumbai on 26th November 2008, I join the entire nation in paying homage to the bravehearts who lost their lives and expressing solidarity with their families,” the President said in a post to X.
Additionally, she reaffirmed India’s resolve to fight terrorism.
“A thankful country honors its courageous security forces who gave their lives to keep our citizens safe. Additionally, it is a day to restate India’s unwavering commitment to combating terrorism in all of its manifestations,” the message said.
The security men who lost their lives in the assaults were also honored by Union Ministers Rajnath Singh and Amit Shah.
“The whole human civilization is tarnished by terrorism. “The world has praised the Modi government’s ‘zero tolerance’ policy against terrorism, and India is now a global leader in anti-terrorism efforts,” Union Home Minister Amit Shah said in his tweet.
“We remember, and we will never forget those wounds,” said Rajnath Singh, the secretary of defense.
In a post on X, Union Minister Piyush Goyal also recalled the sacrifices done by the populace.
“Respectful salute to the courageous police officers, soldiers, and civilians who gave their lives in the 26/11 Mumbai terrorist attack to defend the nation.” “We will never forget their courage, sacrifice, and martyrdom,” the message said.
The 16th anniversary of the 26/11 assaults is today. Ten Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists carried out a series of well-planned terror operations at the Taj Hotel, Oberoi Trident Hotel, Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus, Leopold Cafe, Mumbai Chabad House, Nariman House, Cama Hospital, and Metro Cinema.
Notably, the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks in 2008 claimed the lives of at least 174 individuals, including 20 members of the security forces and 26 foreigners, and wounded over 300 more.
The assaults were carried out by the 10 Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists who traveled from Pakistan to Mumbai by boat.
