Prayagraj Maha Kumbh: On Monday, more than 1.5 crore devotees took a holy dip in the Triveni Sangam
Prayagraj: With over 15 million people, including one million Kalpawasis, taking a bath at the confluence of the Ganga and Yamuna rivers till 10 PM on Monday, the current Maha Kumbh Mela has seen a huge rush of devotees hoping to experience the holy dip at Triveni Sangam.
Since the festival began on January 13, more than 140 million individuals have taken the holy plunge, the Uttar Pradesh government said in a statement.
On Monday, Amit Shah, the Union Home Minister, too had a sacred plunge in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh’s Sangam Triveni. Baba Ram Dev, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, and other sages and saints were with Shah.
Several Union Ministers, including Rajnath Singh, have attended Maha Kumbh so far and dipped in the Triveni Sangam there.
In the meanwhile, Union Minister Kiren Rijiju spoke with a variety of devotees and related his experience of taking the holy bath.
“Maha Kumbh is connected to the faith of crores of people,” he told ANI following the dip. One of the most important moments in my life was swimming in these sacred waters. Prayagraj is visited by millions of pilgrims, and they all comment on how well-organized everything is here. I commend the UP CM, his staff, and the whole government for putting these arrangements in place.
Additionally, there has been a remarkable surge in the number of followers from all over the globe.
After eleven years, Italian pilgrim Antonio has finally been able to go to India to attend the Kumbh Mela.
Antonio said, “I feel amazing,” and added, “This location is full of gifts. This was what I was anticipating. I’ve wanted to go for more than a decade. And I’m here at last.”
Years ago, Antonio developed an interest in India’s spiritual legacy. His knowledge and devotion to Indian saints were enhanced by a previous “padh-yatra,” a 2,000-kilometer journey he had completed on foot.
Spanish pilgrim Esther has been enmeshed in the Kumbh Mela’s spiritual essence. At first, the sheer volume of people overwhelmed her, but as the day went on, her experience changed. When Esther remarked, “I’m feeling great right now,”
Every twelve years, Prayagraj hosts the Maha Kumbh, which takes place from January 13 to February 26.
The event, which has its roots in Sanatan Dharma, represents a heavenly alignment that brings forth a favorable time for devotion and spiritual purification. Over 45 crore people are anticipated to attend the Maha Kumbh Mela, which would be a historic event for India.
