Prashant Kishore said this after BPSC protesters were shifted to another place

Patna: According to Jan Suraaj chief Prashant Kishor, who launched an indefinite hunger strike at Gandhi Maidan in Patna on Thursday, there is nothing illegal about protesting there and calling for the cancellation of the Bihar Public Civil Service Commission (BPSC) exam in connection with the purported paper leak incident.

The Patna district government wanted the demonstrators to leave Gandhi Maidan and move the demonstrations to the city’s Gardanibagh neighborhood, which prompted Kishor’s response.

“Who has given the farmers in Delhi permission to demonstrate? Why can’t we demonstrate in Gandhi Maidan if someone may do so in the streets of Delhi? We’re demonstrating in a nonviolent manner,” Kishor told ANI.

Prashant Kishore joined the BPSC candidates in their demonstration at Gandhi Maidan on Thursday, initiating an indefinite hunger strike in protest of the suspected paper leak event and calling for the cancelation of the BPSC exam.

“The authorities beat and assaulted students who were peacefully demonstrating…The public will salute when the collector issues an order, but this is not the British Raj,” he said.

In the meanwhile, Patna Sub-Divisional Magistrate Gaurav Kumar threatened to take action against those who refused to leave Gandhi Maidan.

“In its 2015 ruling, the Patna High Court said that Gardanibagh was the exclusive location for protests in Patna. The government has informed them that demonstrations are permitted in the Gardanibagh region.Gaurav Kumar informed reporters that after giving them some time, they will face consequences.

Kishore chastised Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar for failing to meet with the students at Thursday’s rally at Gandhi Maidan alongside the BPSC candidates.

This is in opposition to the self-centered Bihar administration, whose chief minister, Nitish Kumar, refused to meet with the students despite their agreement to end the action if the CM declared that the examinations could not be conducted. The officials assaulted the kids… I am going on an indefinite hunger strike because there is only one path for individuals like us,” he said.

Students in Patna who are protesting are calling for the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) to cancel the December 13 Integrated Combined (Preliminary) Competitive Examination (CCE) 2024.

In order to meet with the governor on the BPSC issue, representatives of the Congress and Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) (CPI-ML) marched towards Raj Bhavan earlier on Tuesday. The cops halted the leader as they marched in the direction of the Raj Bhawan.
