Prakash Ambedkar said this on ‘One Nation, One Election’ bill

According to Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi (VBA) President Prakash Ambedkar, the proposed ‘One Nation, One Election’ law is headed to a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC), which has raised worries about its possible passing.

The VBA leader told reporters on Wednesday that the bill’s passage will mark the beginning of the end for Indian political parties.

“If this measure is enacted, it will have a significant impact on the future of our nation. He said reporters, “The end of political parties will begin.”

He went on to say, “The federal structure has already ended,” in response to the opposition’s claim that the measure threatens it. Because of GST, states are financially reliant on the federal government. Their economies are no longer strong.

“This is the beginning of dictatorship,” Ambedkar remarked in response to another query. Congress must make a decision, and it must make a firm one.

Prior to a vote, the Union Territories Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2024 and the Constitution (One Hundred and Twenty-Ninth Amendment) Bill, 2024 were officially tabled in the Lok Sabha. 196 members voted against the measures, while 269 members supported them.

After Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal formally introduced the Constitution (129th Amendment) Bill, 2024, the Speaker of the Lok Sabha revealed the results of the voting. As recommended by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Meghwal consented to forward the bill to a JPC.

Meghwal also submitted a bill to alter the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganization Act of 2019, the Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi Act of 1991, and the Government of Union Territories Act of 1963 during the day’s sessions.

By bringing Delhi, Jammu and Kashmir, and Puducherry assembly elections into line with the planned simultaneous polls, these revisions seek to strengthen the government’s adherence to the One Nation, One Election principle.
