Nishant Bodh, the Additional District Magistrate, pointed to the regular presence of members from political parties at the poll office, the potential for disturbances, and the pressure placed on election workers.

“I am writing to bring to your attention the frequent presence of representatives of political parties in the office of the District Election Office in light of the Delhi Vidhan Sabha elections, 2025,” the ADM said in a letter sent to the Deputy Commissioner of Police, New Delhi. It must be mentioned that in such cases, there is a chance that the peace will be broken and that office officials, including the DEO, would be under pressure to interfere with the electoral process.”

Allegations of widespread voting fraud in the New Delhi Assembly seat are the reason for the request.

Following the accusations, the ADM asked the police to create a “threat perception” in order to protect the DEO.

“Moreover, you are also requested to carry a threat perception of DEO, New Delhi, in light of all the recent developments to ensure that the bodily security of the DEO, New Delhi, is ensured,” the letter said.

Arvind Kejriwal, the national convenor of the party, has previously said on X that “there is widespread fraud occurring in the New Delhi assembly regarding voter additions and deletions.” In this letter to the CEC, Delhi CM Atishi ji provides proof and requests a meeting time.

In her correspondence with the Delhi CEO, Chief Minister Atishi said, “I am writing to urgently draw your attention towards a significant surge in voter addition and deletion applications in the New Delhi Assembly Constituency over the past few days.”

She said that 13,276 Form-6 were received between October 29, 2024, and January 2, 2025.

According to draft electoral records released on October 29, 2024, after summary correction, there were 106,873 ballots cast overall. 6,166 votes, or 5.77 percent of all votes, are requested to be removed, she continued.

The ADM has requested that the police evaluate the danger perception and guarantee the District Election Officer’s safety in order to allay these worries.

It is anticipated that Delhi’s assembly elections will take place in February 2025.In the 2020 assembly elections, the BJP won eight seats while the AAP won 62 of the 70 seats.

In the next assembly elections, AAP’s Arvind Kejriwal, Congress’ Sandeep Dikshit, and BJP’s Parvesh Verma will compete in a triangular race for the New Delhi Assembly seat.

The dates for Delhi’s assembly elections, which are scheduled for February, should be revealed in the coming days.
