Police arrested the main suspect in journalist Mukesh Chandrakar murder case
Bastar: The primary suspect in the murder case of journalist Mukesh Chandrakar has been taken into custody by police. According to an official, the suspect has been apprehended after being on the run since the incident.
The Bastar Police claim that the Special Investigation Team (SIT) captured the culprit, Suresh Chandrakar, in Hyderabad on Sunday evening. He is presently being questioned by authorities.
The corpse of Mukesh Chandrakar, who was brutally killed, was discovered in a septic tank on the private contractor Suresh Chandrakar’s premises. Three people—Ritesh Chandrakar, Dinesh Chandrakar, and Mahendra—have already been taken into custody by police in relation to the murder.
Tragically, the hunt for a journalist from Bijapur who had been missing since January 1 came to an end on Friday when his death was discovered in a septic tank on the property of a private contractor in the area.
One of the interlocutors who was instrumental in the rescue of a CRPF policeman kidnapped by the Naxals during an encounter in Bijapur in 2021 was Mukesh Chandrakar. In Bastar, he was actively reporting on encounters, assaults, and other matters involving the Naxals.
Chandrakar recently wrote a piece on the purported corruption in the building of roads.
To apprehend Suresh Chandrakar, who is suspected of killing journalist Mukesh Chandrakar, an 11-person Special Investigation Team (SIT) was established.
Journalist Mukesh Chandrakar was covering attempts to bring about peace and fight naxalism in Bastar, Chhattisgarh, Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma said the media report.
“Mukesh Chandrakar was working to bring about peace in Bastar and eradicate naxalism from the region by focusing on inner Bastar and Bastar Junction. When Congress leader Suresh Chandrakar plotted this murder, the police acted right away and filed a formal complaint. The Chhattisgarh DyCM said that an 11-member SIT had been established.
