PM Surya Ghar Yojana proved to be an important milestone in the direction of electricity consumption

Tripura: An important step in the push for sustainable energy and lower power use was taken earlier this year when the Prime Minister introduced the PM Surya Ghar Yojana. The goal of this project is to equip homes with solar power systems that work similarly to mini-generators so that people may produce clean energy at home.

The Surya Ghar Yojana has also been successfully launched in Tripura in accordance with the government’s mission, and the implementation phase is also well under way. Although locals initially had difficulty understanding the new system, a number of awareness efforts and education sessions have provided clarity, and as a consequence, the public has responded enthusiastically.

There have been significant efforts to grow the program, and Tripura State Electricity Corporation Limited (TSECL) has been instrumental in advancing the cause. To make sure that every home is aware of the program, information has been shared via direct message and social media. In order to encourage citizens to embrace renewable energy options, the campaign has spread across the whole state, including to every subdivision and circle. The goal of this initiative is to make the environment greener and drastically lower power costs.

The project has been spearheaded by Biswajit Bose, Managing Director of TSECL. In a special interview with ANI Tripura, Bose reaffirmed his dedication to the PM Surya Ghar Yojana’s success. “I am convinced of the benefits of this scheme and have taken it as a personal challenge to make it a success,” Bose said. He called on the public to comprehend the effort, support it, and fully profit from it.

Bose set high goals for the program as well, hoping to get 50,000 applications by March 2024. Ten thousand applications have been received so far, and 0.27 megawatts of solar electricity have already been put into service out of the goal of 1 megawatt. Bose emphasized the value of public involvement in light of Tripura’s struggles as an energy-deficient state: “Come, apply, and install—this is beneficial for you and for the state.” In general, it will benefit the country,” he said.

Bose’s confidence was mirrored by Sujata Sarkar, the PM Surya Ghar Yojana’s Nodal Officer, who noted the project’s increasing acceptability. Installing a generator-like device in every house is the primary goal in order to lower power usage. The reaction has been favorable, and processing is still going on,” she said. Sarkar emphasized the continuous efforts to provide locals assistance and direction, pointing out that information initiatives have guaranteed broad awareness.

TSECL has been instrumental in advancing the program. The goal of the state-wide program is to reach every citizen via constant involvement and communication. Under the direction of MD Biswajit Bose, TSECL is working to establish Tripura as a model state for the use of solar energy in India.

The government’s overarching goal of building an independent and sustainable India is in line with the PM Surya Ghar Yojana. In addition to offering financial advantages to individual families, the program serves national energy objectives by enabling residents to produce their own energy. To guarantee that the advantages of clean energy are felt across Tripura, the government and TSECL are still dedicated to extending the program to all industries.

Notably, on February 13, 2024, Prime Minister Narendra Modi formally introduced the PM Surya Ghar Yojana.

According to a press release, its primary goal is to lower power use by installing a generator-like device in every home.
