Bhubaneswar: When Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Bhubaneswar on Thursday to attend the 18th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas, he was warmly welcomed by External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi.
“Greetings to everyone on the occasion of ‘Prabha Bharatiya Divas,'” Majhi said earlier in a post on X. Indians have made an indelible contribution to the nation’s progress. Let’s embrace indigenous concepts and make a commitment to further promoting our nation’s art, culture, and customs abroad.”
The Government of India’s premier event, the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas (PBD) Convention, offers a crucial forum for interactions and connections with the Indian diaspora around the globe. In collaboration with the State Government of Odisha, the 18th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas Convention is being held in Bhubaneswar from January 8–10.
This PBD Convention’s theme is “The Diaspora’s Contribution to a Viksit Bharat.” Many members of the Indian diaspora from more than 50 nations have signed up to take part in the PBD Convention.
“India will be unique in terms of a major power rising that has actually used, is using, and will continue to use its diaspora as a very important pathway of its globalization and for its rise in the international order,” EAM S. Jaishankar said on Wednesday, emphasizing the significance of India’s diaspora as a “living bridge” that links India to the rest of the world.
When PM Modi first arrived in Bhubaneswar, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi met him at the airport. PM Modi was welcomed at the Bhubaneswar Airport in Odisha by Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, and Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
The 18th Pravasi Bhartiya Divas convention in Odisha will be inaugurated by the prime minister today. Additionally, the Prime Minister will virtually launch the Pravasi Bharatiya Express, a unique tourist train for the Indian diaspora, which will leave Delhi’s Nizamuddin Railway Station and travel to several tourist and religiously significant locations throughout India over the course of three weeks.
Under the Pravasi Teertha Darshan Yojana, the Pravasi Bharatiya Express will operate.
