PM Modi will inaugurate the three-day Ashtalakshmi festival at Bharat Mandapam in the national capital today

The three-day Ashtalakshmi Mahotsav will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday at the national capital’s Bharat Mandapam.

PM Modi stated that Ashtalakshmi Mahotsav honors the rich cultures of the several Northeastern states in a post on X on Friday.

“The Ashtalakshmi Mahotsav will be inaugurated at Bharat Mandapam in Delhi this afternoon at 3 PM. The rich cultures of the several Northeastern states are honored in this presentation. Additionally, the emphasis will be on boosting regional economic activity and investment, particularly in sectors like tourism, handicrafts, textiles, and more,” PM Modi wrote on X.

The first-ever three-day cultural event is scheduled to take place from December 6 to 8, according to the Prime Minister’s Office.
By combining a variety of traditional arts, crafts, and cultural activities, the cultural festival will showcase Northeast India’s rich cultural tapestry.

The first-ever Ashtalakshmi Mahotsav seeks to provide a dynamic platform for exhibiting the thriving textile industry, tourist prospects, traditional craftsmanship, and unique items with Geographical Indication (GI) tags in Northeast India. It will highlight the region’s vital significance for India’s future growth while celebrating its rich cultural heritage. The festival has been envisioned as a yearly occasion that would continue to celebrate Northeast India’s cultural variety and richness while advancing the region’s economy.

The Mahotsav will include a range of activities to encourage economic potential in sectors such traditional handicrafts, handlooms, agricultural goods, and tourism.The festival will include state-specific pavilions, artisan displays, Grameen haats, and technical talks on important topics essential to the northeastern region’s growth.

The importance of infrastructure development in Northeast India and its transformational power will also be emphasized by the Mahotsav. The region is well-positioned to strengthen its strategic role in India’s economic narrative and create new trade and commercial possibilities because to its increased connectivity, industrial expansion, and continuous development in areas like energy, digital infrastructure, and transportation.

Important activities will include buyer-seller meetings and investor roundtables, which are intended to be a special chance to create and fortify networks, alliances, and cooperative projects that will support the region’s economic development.

The Mahotsav will include fashion exhibitions and a design conference that will showcase Northeast India’s rich handicraft and handloom traditions on a national scale.

The event will highlight the region’s rich cultural legacy while showcasing Northeast India’s local foods and lively musical acts.
