PM Modi visits an exhibition on implementation of new criminal laws in Chandigarh
On Tuesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi went to Chandigarh to see an exhibit of the new criminal laws’ implementation.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah joined PM Modi on his tour of the exhibition.
The new three criminal laws—Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam—were successfully implemented, authorities informed the leaders at the show.
The seminar demonstrated how these rules are already changing the criminal justice system by showcasing their practical use. The new legislation were also implemented in a live demonstration that mimicked a crime scene investigation.
This program is centered on the topic “Secure Society, Developed India- From Punishment to Justice.”
The Prime Minister’s ambition to abolish colonial-era laws that persisted after independence and to change the judicial system by putting more emphasis on justice than punishment served as the impetus for the creation of the three laws.
In light of this, the program’s topic was maintained at “Secure Society, Developed India- From Punishment to Justice,” according to an official statement.
On July 1, 2024, the new criminal laws went into effect countrywide with the goal of improving India’s legal system’s efficiency, transparency, and ability to adapt to the demands of modern society.
With the introduction of new frameworks to address contemporary issues like organized crime, cybercrime, and providing justice for victims of different crimes, these historic changes represent a significant revamp of India’s criminal justice system.
