PM Modi made this appeal to the voters of Maharashtra and Jharkhand
Voters in Jharkhand and Maharashtra were exhorted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to cast their ballots enthusiastically on Wednesday.
“All of the seats in the Maharashtra Assembly elections will be up for vote today. I urge the state’s voters to take part enthusiastically and contribute to the beauty of this democratic celebration. “I urge all young people and female voters to cast their ballots in large numbers this time,” PM Modi wrote on X.
On Wednesday, voting in Maharashtra also started at 7 a.m. and will end at 6 p.m. There are 288 assembly seats that are holding polls.
2,086 independent candidates are among the 4,136 candidates running in the elections. The NCP is running for 59 seats, the Shiv Sena for 81, and the BJP for 149. There are 101 candidates from the Congress, 95 from the Shiv Sena (UBT), and 86 from the NCP (Sharad Pawar group). In addition to other minor parties, the BSP is running for 237 seats. There are around 9.7 crore registered voters in the state.
In the meanwhile, voting for the remaining 38 seats in the second round of the Jharkhand assembly elections began at 7 a.m. on Wednesday.
Earlier, at around 5:00 p.m., a mock election was held in Jamtara, Deoghar, and several booths.
“Jharkhand’s magnificent celebration of democracy is in its second and last phase today. I encourage every voter to take part with zeal and set a new voting record. I want to take this opportunity to congratulate all of my young friends who will be casting their first ballots. “Your votes are the state’s strength,” PM Modi stated in his X post.
For 43 of the 81 assembly seats, the first round of voting was held on November 13.
The Bharatiya Janata Party-led NDA is vying to overthrow the Hemant Soren-led administration, while the incumbent Jharkhand Mukti Morcha-Congress combination is fighting to hold onto power.
With well-known candidates like former Chief Minister Champai Soren and Congress leader Ajoy Kumar in the race, the BJP-led alliance is aiming to win over important seats.
