Piyush Goyal said that states should prepare action plans for better logistics business to attract investments
New Delhi: According to Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal, in order to draw in investments, states and the private sector must create action plans for improved logistics operations.
“To draw in investments, states and the private sector must create action plans for improved logistical operations. When the “Logistics Ease Across Different States (LEADS) 2024” report was released here on Friday, Piyush Goyal said that regional and city-level logistics strategies must also be developed for last-mile connectivity.
Additionally, he oversaw the “Logistics Excellence, Advancement, and Performance Shield (LEAPS) 2024” felicitation ceremony.
He placed a strong focus on putting policies into place that support green logistics, worker diversity, and central government project facilitation. He pointed out that in order to succeed more in the future, it is essential to embrace modern technologies like artificial intelligence, machine learning, and data analytics. In order to strengthen the logistics industry, the minister also emphasized the need for talent development.
Minister Goyal said that states should use public-private partnerships (PPPs) in the logistics industry to increase their success and that the nation should promote gender inclusion and women’s increased involvement in the field.
In order to increase transparency and reduce costs, he asked the states to consider multi-modal hubs for in-land container depots and to put land up for auction.
In order to modernize the logistics industry and have India ready for a Viksit Bharat by 2047, he advised the sector to embrace the LEAD framework, which stands for Longevity, Efficiency and Effectiveness, Accessibility and Accountability, and Digitalization of Processes.
This time, Goyal emphasized the value of LEADS in giving states and UTs practical insights to promote logistical reforms. He praised the cooperation of all parties involved in establishing logistics as a vital facilitator of India’s economic development. “In order for India to grow quickly, logistics should consider exponential growth,” he remarked.
Logistics Infrastructure, Logistics Services, Operating and Regulatory Environment, and the recently added Sustainable Logistics are the four main pillars on which the LEADS 2024 report assesses logistics performance. It also identifies possibilities unique to each State or UT to facilitate well-informed decision-making and showcases projects carried out by several States and UTs across these pillars.
