People shivering in cold in Delhi, 10.3 degree Celsius recorded in Safdarjung
New Delhi: Due to the bad weather, a layer of fog covered a number of areas in the nation’s capital on Monday, making it harder to see. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) reports that Safdarjung had a low temperature of 10.3 degrees Celsius at 8:30 am today, while Palam recorded 8.6 degrees.
The Met Department has predicted that Monday might see “dense fog” covering the city, with a low temperature of around 9 degrees Celsius and a high temperature of about 18 degrees Celsius.
As it is December, one of the residents, Govind Upadhyay, stated, “Winter is taking shape. This is advantageous as it will benefit crops.
To help the homeless, the Delhi Urban Shelter Improvement Board (DUSIB) has erected 235 pagoda tents.
AIIMS, Lodhi Road, and the Nizamuddin flyover are among the locations in the national capital where night shelters have been erected.
According to statistics from the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), the national capital’s air quality index at 8 a.m. was 179, which is considered moderate.
A score of zero to fifty is regarded as “good,” 51 to 100 as “satisfactory,” 101 to 200 as “moderate,” 201 to 300 as “poor,” 301 to 400 as “very poor,” and 401 to 500 as “severe.”
Meanwhile, images have also surfaced from other regions of the country. The lowest temperature in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, dropped to 12 degrees Celsius, forcing residents to spend the night in shelter dwellings.
Parts of Ayodhya city were shrouded in fog. According to IMD, the lowest temperature fell to 9 degrees Celsius.
Although a thin layer of fog enveloped Jalandhar during Punjab’s cold wave, folks continued with their regular tasks.
Over the next several days, temperatures in Delhi and other areas of northwest and central India are expected to gradually drop, according to the IMD’s Sunday forecast.
Temperatures in several areas are predicted to decrease by 3 to 5 degrees Celsius, according to Dr. Naresh Kumar, an IMD scientist.
“The temperature will progressively drop. In several areas of central and northwest India, we anticipate temperature drops of 3 to 5 degrees Celsius,” Dr. Kumar said.
Additionally, the IMD has predicted two days of thick to extremely dense fog across Punjab and Haryana, which might impair visibility and cause travel delays.
“We are expecting dense to very dense fog over Punjab and Haryana for the next two days,” said Dr. Kumar.
The IMD predicts that while temperatures have been higher than usual for this time of year, they will drop to more normal levels in the days ahead.
“We are expecting cold conditions today, especially over the Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, and Haryana regions,” he said. He did stress, however, that “no cold wave” is anticipated in Delhi at this time.
