The Patna DM claims that the protest took place at Gandhi Maidan, a restricted area, in front of the Gandhi monument.

He said that the demonstrators had already received a notification from the government to relocate to a Gardanibagh protest location. The demonstrators persisted at the location in spite of repeated requests and sufficient notice to leave.

Prashant Kishor of the Jan Suraaj Party and a few others were unlawfully demonstrating in front of the Gandhi monument at Patna’s Gandhi Maidan, which is a restricted area, in support of their five demands. According to Singh, the government had sent out a warning to relocate to Gardanibagh, the protest’s authorized location.

“For unlawfully protesting in the restricted area, a formal complaint was filed at Gandhi Maidan PS. The location was not left empty despite repeated requests and enough time,” he said.

The Patna DM said that Kishor and a few of his followers were being held and will appear in court in accordance with the law.

“He and a few of his followers were arrested today. They are in perfect health. According to the established protocol, they will be brought before the court,” Singh said.

In what he called a VIP protest, RJD leader Mrityunjay Tiwari said that the Jan Suraaj Chief was collaborating with the state administration.

“He (Prashant Kishor) was attempting to profit by politicizing and utilizing aspirants at a VIP demonstration. The purpose of all this drama was to defend the government. Why wasn’t he taken out of Gandhi Maidan sooner if it was a restricted area? The demonstration was organized by the government. According to the RJD spokesman, Tejashwi Yadav is there and will keep bringing up the concerns of candidates.

Earlier in the morning on Monday, the Patna Police arrested the Jan Suraaj chairman and took him away in an ambulance.

The Gandhi Maidan location where the Jan Suraaj head was sitting on a fast-unto-death with the demonstrators has also been cleared by Patna Police. The cars departing from Gandhi Maidan were also inspected by Patna Police.

Since January 2, Kishor has been participating in the hunger strike in solidarity with students calling for the BPSC test to be canceled due to claims of a question paper leak.

Tensions in the neighborhood increased after Kishor’s arrest, however, when a fight broke out between police and Jan Suraaj chairman Prashant Kishor’s followers.

Supporters of Kishor widely denounced his detention, claiming that the government was trying to quell the demonstration because it was concerned about the unity that Kishor had cultivated among the populace.

“Prashant Kishor’s spectacles were thrown when he was being detained,” a fan informed the media. They mistreated me, and I was hurt when I tried to take it. Where Prashant ji has been brought is unknown to us.

Another fan said, “He did not do anything illegal,” and accused the police of using oppressive techniques. He performed Satyagraha by sitting in one spot. Because of him, the government is afraid. Where the cops took him is unknown. At the very least, let us know where he was taken; we are protesting against this.”
