On the occasion of Mahaparinirvana Day, Mallikarjun Kharge expressed gratitude to Dr. BR Ambedkar, the architect of the Indian Constitution
New Delhi: In honor of ‘Mahaparinirvan Diwas,’ Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge on Friday thanked Dr. BR Ambedkar, the great social reformer and creator of the Indian Constitution, saying Babasaheb dedicated his life to promoting the democratic principles of justice, equality, liberty, and fraternity.

To honor the death anniversary of Bharat Ratna Dr. Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar, affectionately known as Babasaheb Ambedkar, the principal architect of the Indian Constitution, Mahaparinirvan Diwas is celebrated on December 6 every year.
Baba Saheb Ambedkar was an Indian lawyer, economist, politician, and social reformer who was born on April 14, 1891. He advocated for the rights of women and workers and fought against societal discrimination against Dalits.
Respected statesman, reformer, and thinker Dr. Ambedkar devoted his life to promoting equality and ending prejudice based on caste.
Mahaparinirvan Diwas is a significant celebration honoring the revolutionary heritage of Dr. BR Ambedkar.
Buddhist writings describe the death of Lord Buddha as Mahaparinirvan, which is Sanskrit for “nirvana after death.”
Parinirvana is seen as freedom from the cycle of life and death, karma, and samsara. In the Buddhist calendar, it is the most sacred day.
In addition, he was one of the seven people who served on the committee that wrote the post-independence Indian Constitution. Ambedkar received India’s highest civilian honor, the Bharat Ratna, in 1990.
On December 6, 1956, Baba Saheb Ambedkar passed away at home in Delhi.
