On the new year, Modi government will start a survey to give 2 crore under PM Awas Yojana
New Delhi: The Narendra Modi government has chosen to begin the household survey in order to provide two crore more homes to the nation’s impoverished as a New Year‘s present. The survey will be finished in three months, by March 31, 2025. The BJP made this a key electoral pledge in 2024.
A copy of the Center’s December 27 statement to all nations in this respect is available on CNN-News18. “To identify eligible families, it has been agreed to begin the survey utilizing the Awaas+ 2024 App. Therefore, I respectfully ask that you direct the relevant state/UT authorities to begin the household survey as soon as possible and make sure it is finished by March 31, 2025, at the latest, within the next three months. In a statement sent to all states and UTs, the Center said that no eligible homes should be excluded.
According to authorities, the survey for an additional one crore homes under the PM Awas (Urban) project has already begun. In their 2024 Lok Sabha election manifesto, the BJP pledged to build three crore new homes under the PM Awas Yojana, two crore of which will be in rural areas and one crore in urban areas. Four crore homes have already been built under this initiative in the first two years, according to the Modi government’s agenda. Since 2016, the BJP’s PM Awas Yojana has been seen as a significant game changer.
By March 31, 2029, the three crore more homes are expected to be finished.
How the Survey Will Take Place
The Awaas+ 2024 mobile application will allow users to self-complete the survey using facial authentication in addition to surveyors conducting the survey. Using the AWAAS+2024 smartphone application, the states and UTs have already registered the surveyors and mapped them to the Gram Panchayats. According to the Center’s letter to the states, “the application enables citizens to perform self-surveys using face-based authentication to ensure comprehensive coverage and inclusion of all eligible beneficiaries.”
On September 17, 2024, Prime Minister Modi introduced the AWS+ smartphone app in Bhubaneswar. The purpose of this application is to find more rural families that qualify for benefits under the program in accordance with PM Awas Yojana rules. The goal of the application is to make it easier to find and include more low-income families in the housing assistance program. This innovative project uses a comprehensive AI-enabled face authentication technology-based home survey application to identify eligible recipients. For self-survey purposes, the residents will also complete Aadhaar-based eKYC.
