Today is the scheduled presentation of the Union Budget 2025–26, which aims to reconcile fiscal restraint and economic development while meeting the demands of important sectors, enterprises, and taxpayers.
Measures that stimulate demand, encourage capital investment, and assist vital industries like real estate, MSMEs, healthcare, artificial intelligence (AI), electric vehicles (EVs), and renewable energy are what industry leaders and experts are looking for. Additionally, one of the primary expectations is still that fiscal consolidation would continue.
Tax reduction for both people and corporations is one of the budget’s most anticipated features. In anticipation of higher exemption limits and standard deductions under the new tax system, taxpayers anticipate adjustments to tax slabs. Making yearly income up to Rs 10 lakh tax-free is in demand.
The standard deduction limit, which was Rs50,000 under the previous tax system and Rs75,000 under the current one, is also anticipated to rise, according to taxpayers.
President Droupadi Murmu gave a joint speech to kick off the Parliament’s budget session on Friday, January 31. On Friday, the Economic Survey was also tabled.
The first portion of the budget session will run until February 13. Following the break, the two Houses will reconvene on March 10 and end the session on April 4.
