Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Majhi visited the districts to take stock of the crop damage due to unseasonal rains

Gajapati: In order to examine agricultural damage caused by recent unseasonable rains, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi and Minister of Revenue and Disaster Management Suresh Pujari visited the districts of Gajapati and Ganjam on Sunday. They also spoke with local farmers who were impacted.

CM Majhi instructed the authorities to evaluate the damage and provide aid via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) when he was there. The Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana reports that 1.26 lakh farmers have been impacted so far by the state’s unseasonable rainfall.

Speaking on CM Majhi’s visit, Odisha BJP leader Sidhant Mohapatra said that the Chief Minister and Revenue Minister traveled to Ganjam, Gajapati, and other districts to evaluate agricultural damage brought on by the recent unseasonable rains.

“There was erratic rain in Ganjam district and other districts from the 20th of this month until the day before yesterday (December 28), which damaged crops and caused distress for farmers,” Mohapatra told ANI on Sunday. Mohan Charan Majhi, the chief minister of Odisha, and Suresh Pujari, the minister of revenue and disaster management, visited Ganjam, Gajapati, and other districts.

“The chief minister of Odisha has assured farmers that the government is on their side. Mohapatra said, “Our government is dedicated… the government is working day and night to help the farmers.”

According to the Chief Minister’s Office, CM Majhi presided over a review meeting on crop loss assessment on Saturday and established a deadline of December 30 for identifying farmers who have lost their crops, such as vegetables, betel, and rice, in order to pay the compensation amount via DBT.

CM Majhi has previously promised farmers prompt compensation for crop loss. He has asked insured farmers to call their registered phone numbers and report crop damage at Helpline number 14447.
