Noida police beefs up security in view of farmers’ protest march heading towards Delhi
Noida: After issuing thorough traffic warnings on Monday, the Noida Police have increased security and inspected vehicles in anticipation of disturbances from a farmers’ protest march that is traveling towards Delhi.
The Bhartiya Kisan Parishad (BKP) and other farmer organizations are organizing the demonstration, which aims to seek benefits and compensation associated with agricultural reforms, including a legislative guarantee for the Minimum Support Price (MSP).
Images from Noida’s Chilla Border show lengthy lines of cars caught in gridlock.
Police conducted road security checks before the farmers’ ‘Delhi Chalo’ march, which caused the traffic jam.
The Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM), Kisan Mazdoor Morcha (KMM), Bhartiya Kisan Parishad (BKP), and other farmer groups had already said that they would march on Delhi on Monday to seek perks and compensation under the new agricultural legislation.
At noon on December 2, the first group, headed by BKP leader Sukhbir Khalifa, would start their march from under the Maha Maya flyover in Noida.
“We are prepared to march in the direction of Delhi. We will begin our march towards Delhi tomorrow, December 2, from under the Maha Maya flyover (in Noida). We will all be there at noon and demand our perks and compensation in accordance with the new rules,” BKP leader Sukhbir Khalifa told ANI on Sunday.
With obstacles in place to keep an eye on traffic movement, the Delhi-Noida Police are hard at work doing thorough inspections at all crossings.
Restrictions and traffic diversions have been implemented to guarantee safety and avoid jams.
Sarwan Singh Pandhair, the general secretary of the Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh Committee (KMSC), had announced earlier in October that the farmers demonstrating at the Punjab-Haryana border in Shambhu would march towards Delhi on December 6 in order to press their demands, which included a guarantee of the Minimum Support Price (MSP).
Uttar Pradesh farmers are planning to march from Noida to Delhi’s Parliament complex, where the Winter Session is in progress, to voice their five main requests for benefits and compensation under the new agricultural legislation.
Police in Delhi-NCR have increased security and rerouted traffic due to the impending demonstration.
