Nikhil Kumaraswamy advocates for Karnataka tobacco farmers, urges states to ensure fair prices

New Delhi: To support Karnataka’s tobacco farmers, JD(S) Youth Wing President Nikhil Kumaraswamy met with Union Minister for Commerce and Industries Piyush Goyal in the nation’s capital on Monday.

On their behalf, Kumaraswamy made a presentation at the conference, drawing attention to the pricing differences they encounter.

In order to save the lives of thousands of agricultural families in the state, Kumaraswamy requested the Center to provide fair and compensatory pricing.

In comparison to farmers in other states, Karnataka tobacco growers have been facing a number of difficulties, including pricing discrepancies, according to an official statement. On Saturday, former Union Minister H D Kumaraswamy and JD(S) leader Kumaraswamy were made aware of the problem.

“I was honored to be accompanied by H D Kumaraswamy, whose invaluable experience and steadfast commitment to farmers’ welfare have always been a guiding force,” stated Nikhil Kumaraswamy.

According to the official announcement, former Minister Sa.Ra. Mahesh, Hunsur MLA G T Harish Gowda, and Kodagu-Mysuru MP Yaduveer Wadiyar also endorsed the meeting.

The statement also emphasized their joint efforts to cooperatively and successfully solve farmers’ issues.

The Ministry of Commerce and Industries will seek to resolve the matter, Union Minister Piyush Goyal promised. Citing Goyal, the statement said that measures will be made to guarantee tobacco farmers get fair pricing for their output and that the difficulties they encounter would be resolved.

Nikhil Kumaraswamy reaffirmed his dedication to ceaselessly promoting the rights and welfare of Karnataka’s farmers in his capacity as president of the JD(S) Youth Wing. “Together, we will ensure their voices are heard and their livelihoods are secured,” the statement said, citing Kumaraswamy.
