NCP-SCP MP Supriya Sule paid tribute to former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh, who died on Thursday at the age of 92, calling him one of the world’s greatest leaders.
“He was a remarkable individual. I consider myself fortunate to have had the chance to meet him, spoken with him, and listen to him repeatedly in the Parliament. “He was one of the best world leaders and such a lovely man,” Supriya Sule said.
“Deeply saddened by the passing of former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh Ji,” Sule said in a post on X. Senior Congress politician AK Antony also lamented the passing of former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Friday, calling it a national tragedy. He said that when the economy was in ruins, Manmohan Singh was asked to join his cabinet as the finance minister by then-prime minister Narsimha Rao.

September 26, 1932, was Manmohan Singh’s birthday. In addition to being an economist, Manmohan Singh was the governor of the Reserve Bank of India from 1982 to 1985. After Jawaharlal Nehru and Indira Gandhi, he was the longest-standing prime minister of India, lasting from 2004 until 2014.
After 33 years of service, he announced his retirement from the Rajya Sabha earlier this year.
