More than 6 prominent schools in Delhi received bomb threat via email
New Delhi: On Friday morning, bomb threats were sent by email to over six prestigious Delhi institutions, prompting the implementation of emergency security measures. The following schools were threatened: Venkatesh Public School in Rohini, Delhi Public School in Defence Colony, Delhi Police Public School in Safdarjung Enclave, Delhi Public School in East of Kailash, Bhatnagar Public School in Paschim Vihar, and Cambridge School in Srinivaspuri.
“This email is to inform you that there are many explosives in your school premises, and I am sure that you all do not check your students’ bags when they enter the school premises,” said the bomb threat email that the schools received. This action involves several red rooms in addition to a covert dark web organization. The explosives have enough strength to damage people and demolish structures.
“The fact that the explosives will be detonated on December 13 or 14 is classified. However, the explosives are undoubtedly placed at this very moment. However, the fact that it will explode on December 13 or 14 is very secret. Since all of your schools have identical schedules, we’re very certain that you don’t look behind you when your pupils arrive on school property to begin their day. If you don’t respond to this email with our requests, the explosives will be detonated,” the email said.
In response to the alarms, the Delhi Fire Brigade and police units moved quickly, thoroughly inspecting the property to guarantee the security of the employees and pupils.
Authorities verified that no suspicious objects were discovered after a thorough examination.
“We received a message (from the school),” claimed a parent who came soon after the bomb threat was announced. The notice states that due to unforeseen circumstances, school is closed. Hoax calls, explosives, etc. are not disclosed. Around six in the morning, we got the message. We are on our way home.”
Earlier, bomb threats seeking a USD 30,000 ransom were sent to more than 40 schools in the nation’s capital via email. Around 11:38 p.m. on December 8, this email arrived.
“I placed many explosives within the structure, including lead azide, an explosive substance used in detonators. I placed many explosives inside the structure. The explosives are tiny and cleverly concealed. The building won’t sustain much damage, but when the explosives go off, a lot of people will be hurt. You are all worthy of suffering and losing limbs. I’ll set off the explosives if I don’t get USD 30,000,” the threat letter said.
Atishi, the chief minister of Delhi, criticized the national government, claiming that the BJP-led administration had failed in its only responsibility of ensuring security.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah came under fire from former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who said that the city’s residents had never seen such a poor law and order situation.
In order to handle bomb threats and associated situations, the Delhi High Court earlier on November 19 ordered the Delhi Government and Delhi Police to create a thorough response plan that includes a complete Standard Operating Procedure (SOP).
The court has given these directions an eight-week deadline to be completed.
