Mehbooba Mufti announced the dissolution of the entire party structure
President Mehbooba Mufti of the Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Democratic Party (JKPDP) has declared the whole party structure to be dissolved immediately.
Sources claim that after conversations with top officials, the new office bearers—along with different wings and bodies—will be formed.
Friday’s declaration came from the JKPDP headquarters in Srinagar.
After the October 8 assembly elections of the Union Territory, the former Chief Minister hailed the National Conference-Congress coalition for getting the “people’s mandate.”
She said that because the people had given a clear mandate, there would be no chance for parties to “mess around,” adding that some “tricks” would have been utilized to “defeat the mandate of the people,” should the election have produced a hung legislature.
“The way people have voted makes me glad. ‘Gadbad karna ka koi opportunity nahi hai ab’ (right now there is no possibility to screw around). It seems as if dirty tactics might have been employed to subvert the people’s will if the mandate was unclear,” she said.
The Bharatiya Janata Party won 29, the Congress obtained 6, the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly election National Conference got 42 seats, and the PDP obtained 3.
“I applaud the leadership of the National Conference-Congress; they have performed absolutely well. I would also like to thank the people of Jammu and Kashmir for choosing a stable administration. Since August 5, 2019, the situation in Jammu and Kashmir has been terrible and people struggled with many issues. Establishing a stable administration was very crucial, she stated during a news conference.
Mufti also appreciated PDP officials and staff for their relentless campaign activities. “I appreciate PDP officials and employees voting despite all the difficulties. I want them not to give up,” she said.
September 18, September 26, and October 1 were three phases of the assembly elections for the 90 seats in Jammu & Kashmir.
