Mayawati expressed grief over the demise of Manmohan Singh
Lucknow: Mayawati, the leader of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), expressed her sorrow at the passing of former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, stating that he was a good man who significantly improved India’s economy.
BSP Supremo Mayawati wrote on X on Thursday: “It is very sad to learn about the passing of the nation’s former prime minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh, tonight. He made a unique contribution to the economic development of India. He was an honorable individual. I send his family and all of his loved ones my sincerest sympathies.
According to AIIMS, Manmohan Singh died on Thursday night at the age of 92 from age-related illnesses.
A formal statement is anticipated on Friday, and the last ceremonies for former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh will take place on Saturday.
“The day after tomorrow is when former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh’s last ceremonies will take place. Late Thursday evening, Congress General Secretary KC Venugopal informed reporters in Delhi, “We will make an official announcement.”
General VK Singh, the former head of the army, too expressed sorrow over his passing and said that his legacy will endure throughout Indian history.
“India mourns the loss of former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh, a visionary leader and celebrated economist who shaped the nation’s economic reforms,” General VK Singh said in a post on X. India’s history will bear witness to his legacy. We send his family our deepest sympathies. Om Shanti.
In addition, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw expressed his sadness at Singh’s passing, stating that his commitment, leadership, and humility would never be forgotten.
“I’m saddened by Dr. Manmohan Singh Ji’s passing as former prime minister. We shall never forget his passion, leadership, and humility. Ashwini Vaishnaw on X: “Om Shanti.”
N. Chandrababu Naidu, the chief minister of Andhra Pradesh, called Singh’s passing a “great loss to the country.”

Dr. Singh was an intellectual statesman who exemplified honesty, intelligence, and humility. From his leadership as Prime Minister to his economic reforms as Finance Minister in 1991, he relentlessly served the country and brought millions of people out of poverty. Born in Punjab in 1932, Manmohan Singh was India’s prime minister for two terms, from 2004 to 2014. After the Congress defeated the Atal Bihari Vajpayee-led NDA in the 2004 Lok Sabha election, he took the oath of office for the first time. From 2009 until 2014, Singh completed his second term in office. In 2014, Prime Minister Narendra Modi replaced him.
