Manipur Police and other security forces arrested eight militants and recovered 25 weapons in a joint operation
Imphal: In a series of coordinated operations across several Manipur districts, the Indian Army and the Assam Rifles apprehended eight cadres and retrieved twenty-five weapons, ammunition, and warlike supplies, officials reported Monday. The operations were carried out in coordination with the Manipur Police and other security forces.

The activities were carried out in the districts of Kakching, Thoubal, Tengnoupal, Bishnupur, Imphal East, and Chandel, according to a statement.
An AK-47 rifle, a Pt 303 rifle made in the country, a 9mm handgun, a 12 bore rifle, multiple Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), grenades, ammunition, and other warlike supplies were found during a search operation carried out by Assam Rifles on February 2 in the Laiching-Duthang Junction area of Chandel district in response to intelligence.
In a separate operation on February 3, the Indian Army, working with the CRPF and Manipur Police, retrieved ammunition, grenades, two IEDs, two 9mm submachine guns, two pistols, one 2-inch mortar, one AK-47 rifle, and two nearby villages in the state’s Bishnupur district.
A concealed cache containing locally made grenades and improvised projectile launchers (Pompie) of various calibers was discovered after Assam Rifles personnel, conducting an Area Domination Patrol (ADP) in the forested area of Tengnoupal district on February 4, spotted three suspicious individuals who fled when the security personnel noticed them.
On February 6, a 7.62 mm SLR, a single-barrel gun, two IEDs, grenades, ammo, and other warlike supplies were recovered during a combined operation in the Nongyai Hill Range of Kakching district that included the Indian Army, Assam Rifles, BSF, and Manipur Police.
One 7.62 mm assault weapon, ammo, and other warlike supplies were found during a search operation by the Assam Rifles in the Chandel area between Geljang and Tyang.
A.303 rifle, three single bore barrel guns (SBBL), a .22 pistol, a 9mm handgun, ammo, grenades, and other warlike supplies were found during Uyok, Bishnupur district, on February 7, when Assam Rifles and Manipur Police conducted an intelligence-based search operation.
Eight cadres were apprehended and weapons and ammunition were recovered on February 8 as a result of a series of intelligence-based operations conducted in several areas.
In Thoubal district, a Kangleipak Communist Party (Kangleipak) cadre was apprehended during a search operation in the Kakmayi general region. Seven Manipur Naga Revolutionary Front (MNRF) members were apprehended in Imphal East during a combined operation in the Tellou general area. Additionally, ammunition, warlike supplies, one AK-47, two INSAS weapons, and three self-loading rifles (SLR) were recovered.
After the raids, the Manipur Police received all of the firearms and other materials that had been seized.
These actions demonstrate how the Indian Army and security services work together to maintain safety and security in the area.
