Major Radhika Sen is part of the mechanised forces marching on the line of duty at the Republic Day parade

New Delhi: The important role of women in the military was emphasized by Major Radhika Sen, a member of the mechanized forces that would march on the Kartavya Path during the Republic Day Parade.

She said that she will be standing on the Bharat Forge-made Nandighosh, a fast-reaction force vehicle.

“I am a member of the mechanized forces that are marching on the Kartavya path,” Major Radhika Sen told the report. I’ll be standing atop Nandighosh, a vehicle with a rapid response force.

“Our own businesses are working to further our entry into the defense industrial sector. With a full load, this mine-protected armored personnel carrier can accommodate eight people in addition to a driver and a co-driver,” she said.

“This vehicle has shown its value in both difficult terrain and CI/CT (counter-insurgency and counter-terrorism) missions. These vehicles are now also being used in UN operations, where we are demonstrating our abilities in the international arena of defense manufacture,” she said.

She thought back to her early years, when she would get up early to watch the parade on TV.

“I would be marching this time. It’s a really nice and joyful sensation. My folks would undoubtedly be pleased with me,” Major Sen said.

The esteemed ‘United Nations Military Gender Advocate of the Year’ award for 2023 went to Major Radhika Sen, an Indian woman peacekeeper who worked with the UN mission in Congo.

In the Republic Day parade, the Corps of Signals contingent will be led by Captain Ritika Khareta.

As a combat support branch, the Corps of Signals is in charge of the army network, cyberwarfare, and electronic warfare. Technically competent and committed troops make up my contingent. I want to express my gratitude to my contingent for following my orders and having faith in my ability to guide them,” she added.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lay a wreath at the National War Memorial to kick off the Republic Day Parade on January 26, 2025.

Together with troops from the Armed Forces, Paramilitary Forces, Auxiliary Civil Forces, NCC, and NSS, the President will arrive at Kartavya Path in a ceremonial buggy and accept the salute during a ceremonial march past.

Three hundred cultural performers from throughout the nation will play musical instruments in a one-of-a-kind cultural show before the procession starts. The march past the Indonesian and Indian Armed Forces contingents will come next.
