Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis said this on the assembly election results
State Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis responded to the Mahayuti’s overwhelming win in the Maharashtra elections on Thursday by stating that they received more votes than they had anticipated.
Speaking at the Times Network-hosted India Economic Conclave. Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s catchphrase, “Ek hai toh safe hai,” reportedly performed “magic” in the state, according to Fadnavis.
“If we are expecting that, I would answer that I knew we (BJP) were going to win the 132 seats, but this is incorrect; he was unaware that we would win a significant number of seats. I knew they (Mahayuti) were going to win the elections. After winning 132 seats in the Maharashtra Assembly elections, Fadnavis said, “We got higher numbers than we expected.”
He said that the opposition’s “fake narrative” was the reason why the fourth party beat the Yuti coalition in the Lok Sabha polls.
“We have consistently performed well in Maharashtra, but for some reason, our performance in the Lok Sabha elections was not that good. First, we examined the results of the Lok Sabha elections and discovered that, aside from these three parties (NCP-SCP, Shiv Sena UBT, and Congress), the fourth party responsible for our defeat was a phony narrative. We were unable to compete as we ought to have. Throughout these elections, we worked on it. He said, “We brought good government schemes.”
Fadnavis cited Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s catchphrase, “Ek hai toh safe hai,” as the explanation for Mahayuti’s win in the Maharashtra elections.
“Against this backdrop, I think that PM Modi’s “Ek Hai Toh Safe hai” slogan worked like magic in Maharashtra. He said, “We won the assembly elections because of the overwhelming number of people who reacted to ‘Ek Hai Toh Safe hai’ and cast ballots.
“Ek hain toh safe hain,” which the Fadnavis announced to be the country’s “maha-mantra,” was said by Prime Minister Modi in Maharashtra during the November election campaign.
“Those who spread discord have learned a lesson from this adage. They have been punished by it. The BJP-NDA has garnered support from all segments of society, including Dalits, OBCs, and tribals. The divisive aim of the Congress and INDI alliance is strongly refuted by this,” he said.
Ajit Pawar, the deputy chief minister of Maharashtra, said earlier in the day that the state government’s cabinet enlargement will happen on December 14. According to Fadnavis, the formula for cabinet enlargement has already been set and will soon be made public.
Devendra Fadnavis was sworn in as Maharashtra’s chief minister on December 5, while Ajit Pawar, the head of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), and Eknath Shinde, the leader of the Shiv Sena, were sworn in as deputy chief ministers.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led Mahayuti coalition won a resounding victory with 235 seats in the Maharashtra Assembly Election 2024. With 132 seats, the BJP became the single-largest party, marking a major turning point in the election. With 57 and 41 seats, respectively, the Shiv Sena and Nationalist Congress Party also saw significant increases.
