Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar paid tribute to Ambedkar
Maharashtra: In honor of the 69th Mahaparinirvan Diwas, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, together with Deputy Chief Ministers Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar, paid homage to Dr. BR Ambedkar, the renowned social reformer and creator of the Indian Constitution, on Friday.
At Shivaji Park, they paid their respects.
Every year on December 6, Mahaparinirvan Diwas is celebrated to honor the anniversary of Bharat Ratna Dr. Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar’s passing, also affectionately referred to as Babasaheb Ambedkar.
Ambedkar, an Indian lawyer, economist, politician, and social reformer, was born on April 14, 1891. He advocated for the rights of women and workers and fought against societal discrimination against Dalits.
He was a highly regarded leader, philosopher, and reformer who devoted his life to promoting equality and ending prejudice based on caste.
Mahaparinirvan Diwas is a significant celebration honoring the revolutionary heritage of Dr. BR Ambedkar.
Buddhist writings describe the death of Lord Buddha as Mahaparinirvan, which is Sanskrit for “nirvana after death.”
Parinirvana is seen as freedom from the cycle of life and death, karma, and samsara. In the Buddhist calendar, it is the most sacred day.
In addition, he was one of the seven people who served on the committee that wrote the post-independence Indian Constitution. Ambedkar received India’s highest civilian honor, the Bharat Ratna, in 1990.
On December 6, 1956, Ambedkar passed away at home in Delhi.
