Maha Kumbh DIG: FIR filed against social media handles posting fake videos about the ongoing Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj from Pakistan
Prayagraj: According to Mahakumbh DIG Vaibhav Krishna, Uttar Pradesh Police filed formal complaints against social media accounts for sharing a phony video regarding the current Mahakumbh in Prayagraj, Pakistan.
“Social media accounts have become the subject of formal complaints after sharing a video from Pakistan purporting to be from the Kumbh region. For misusing the footage of ladies swimming, a formal complaint has also been filed,” Krishna informed the media report.

“Around 1.10 crore people have taken a holy dip till this evening,” he added, providing information on the number of devotees who participated in the Triveni Sangam. The bath today was finished amicably, and nothing bad happened anywhere.
In his speech to the Assembly on Wednesday, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath praised the magnificence of Prayagraj’s Maha Kumbh and denounced the dissemination of false information against India, Maa Ganga, and Sanatan Dharma.
Over 56.25 crore devotees have already taken their sacred plunge in Prayagraj as we are taking part in this conversation. It is like messing with the trust of these 56 crore people when we broadcast false films or make unfounded accusations about the Maha Kumbh, Maa Ganga, India, or Sanatan Dharma,” he stated.
Over 550 million devotees have taken the holy plunge till February 18 in the current Mahakumbh 2025, the greatest human gathering in history, according to authorities on Tuesday.
More than 12.6 million devotees attended the major religious event, which marked yet another noteworthy milestone in the 45-day spiritual gathering, according to official statistics from February 18, 2025, to 8 PM.
This season, the Mahakumbh has had an unprecedentedly large participation and is scheduled to end on February 26. It is anticipated that many more will come and bathe in the Triveni Sangam.
As visitors arrive at the temples for darshan after taking a sacred plunge in Prayagraj, a huge rush of devotees was seen at the Kashi Vishwanath Temple in Varanasi and Ayodhya.
