Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha adjourned till 3 pm
During the current Winter Session of Parliament, which is in its third week of operation, the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, the two chambers of parliament, have been postponed to meet again on Monday at 3 p.m.
Following disturbances in the proceedings, opposition parties demanded a debate on a number of matters of national significance, which led to the adjournments.
JP Nadda, the leader of the Rajya Sabha, said that the Congress party was turning into a “tool” of those who wanted to sow discord in the nation.
According to Nadda, the Congress was siding with those whose activities were threatening India’s democratic institutions. To clarify the air, he asked for a formal discussion on these issues.
Mallikarjun Kharge, the Rajya Sabha’s Leader of the Opposition, vehemently denied Nadda’s accusations in response.
The allegations that the Congress was interfering in Indian politics were denied by Kharge. He said that the BJP was exploiting these charges as a distraction from the country’s urgent problems and that the Congress party was still dedicated to preserving democratic principles.
With both parties apparently at war over the direction of national discourse, the confrontations between the two leaders have given a new dimension to the current political drama in Parliament.
Congress national secretary KC Venugopal said earlier in the day that the government is the primary reason the House is adjourning. They have no desire to govern the House. Within ten seconds after we brought up the matter, the House was adjourned.
“The administration is opposed to Adani’s name being mentioned in parliament. The parliamentary affairs minister made a really offensive and disparaging speech just before the House convened today. “That’s something new,” he continued.
Due to chaos in the Parliament on the 12th day of the winter session, the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha sessions were previously postponed till 2:00 pm.
Speaking previously during the current Winter session of Parliament, Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar voiced his worry over the interruption of House procedures, pointing out that the current session started as the nation reached the 25th year of adopting the Indian Constitution.
In addition to stressing the value of parliamentary processes and the need of productive discussion, he urged all members of Parliament to uphold the House’s sanctity and refrain from taking any acts that might impair its ability to operate.
“We began this session by marking the fourth quarter of the Indian Constitution’s 100-year adoption. The House was unable to operate for the full week. Dhankhar, the chairman of the Rajya Sabha, said that no one should paralyze the House.
Concerns about the numerous interruptions that have hampered the operation of the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha in recent sessions are reflected in Dhankhar’s remark.
Opposition MPs, including Lok Sabha LoP Rahul Gandhi, demonstrated against the Adani issue on the Parliament grounds on the twelfth day of the winter session.
Rahul Gandhi protested the Adani issue with opposition MPs. Samajwadi Party and Trinamool Congress members did not take part in this demonstration.
On November 25, the winter Parliament’s first session began, but because to interruptions, both Houses were adjourned somewhat early. The winter session is scheduled to conclude on December 20.
